The Stroum Jewish Community Center announced the decision not to proceed with the Seattle Jewish Film Festival scheduled for March 19 – 29 and April 4 – 5. Options are being explored for a rescheduled film festival to take place in the summer or early fall of 2020.

About The Film

Having survived the concentration camps, 16-year-old Klara lives with her great-aunt and is desperate to believe her father and mother are still alive. When she meets Aldo, a 42-year-old Holocaust survivor and doctor in Budapest, they discover something they thought had vanished: hope and healing. As the Soviet Empire rises to power in post-war Hungary, their father-daughter relationship causes the suspicious community to notify the authorities, their powerful discovery they have someone to live for is threatened.

Director Bio

Twice shortlisted for an Oscar, Barnabás Tóth is an independent director, writer, and producer from Budapest, Hungary, best known for the film CHUCHOTAGE Chuchotage (2018) as well as a dozen short films, notably MY GUIDE (2013). THOSE WHO REMAINED was Hungary’s Official Selection to this year’s Oscars, and was short-listed for Best International Narrative Film.  Tóth graduated from the Budapust Film School in 2003.
