About The Shorts Program: Ever Forget?

INTERNATIONAL AWARD WINNERS AND NEW DISCOVERIES
Curated by Warren Etheredge

Memory can be a blessing; it can also be a burden. For Jews, it's a preoccupation. Memories can be indelible, yet memory is our most fragile, capricious, and unreliable of faculties. After the Holocaust, "never forget" became a rallying cry. Sometimes, forgetting and recovering memories can be a cry for help or healing. In this curated series of seven shorts films (selected from over 112 entries), memories lost and found, real and virtual, experienced and adopted, chosen and imposed, fading and rehabilitated, are explored. The philosopher George Santayana famously said, "those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it," but is there also a price for remembering?
