About Season 1
Orthodox yeshivas may appear to be for serious scholarship and strict rule following. But in this runaway Israeli hit TV series, sophisticated Avinoam, handsome Meir, and cynical Dov are “shababnikim”— Israeli slang for the rowdy, rebellious ultraorthodox young men who test their community’s limits. They date, barbecue in the park, drink espresso, and “pray” nobody is paying attention. Unfortunately, for the studious and rigid Gedalya, these guys are his new roommates. Moreover, whether he likes it or not, he is going along with them for the ride. Will they corrupt Gedalya before he civilizes them?
Winner of four Israel Academy of Film and Television Awards.
