Jeanne Moreau (Jules et Jim) stars in this latest introspective drama by director Amos Gitai. It is Paris, 1987, and as the televised trial of Gestapo leader Klaus Barbie ("the Butcher of Lyon") grips the nation, a son tries to persuade his Jewish mother to recount her wartime experiences. Moreau delivers a quietly magnificent performance as a woman refusing to confront the heritage and hurt she has left behind. Gitai choreographs her son Victor's (Hippolyte Girardot) struggle to connect the dots. A careful rumination on Holocaust memory and reconciliation. Plays with: My Olympic Summer.
