Shy Berlin baker Thomas (Tim Kalkhof) sets up house with his part-time boyfriend Oren, a married Israeli businessman who visits Germany monthly. When Oren is killed in a car accident a devastated Thomas journeys to Jerusalem, seeking closure. Though a fish out of water, he infiltrates Oren’s life and that of his unsuspecting widow Anat (Sarah Adler, JELLYFISH (Meduzot), SJFF 2008) and her young son, working a menial kitchen job in her struggling café, which he revives with his popular cakes and cookies. Desire, grief, religion, and the quest for absolution produce a potent recipe that heats up as their collaboration takes unexpected turns. How long can Thomas keep his secret from Oren’s family? Gorgeous camera shots of delicious pastries are set to a sparse piano score in director Ofir Raul Graizer’s graceful and nuanced feature debut.
