About SJFF Special Guest Artist
HEART OF STONE is Director Beth Toni Kruvant's third documentary. Her first,
BORN IN
BUENOS AIRES is about the Argentine Jewish community during the political and fiscal crisis of 2001. The documentary won the Directors Award at the Detroit Jewish Film Festival and appeared on cable television. The film
was the center of a panel discussion including the Argentine Ambassador to the United States at the Washington Jewish Film Series. Kruvant's second film,
THE RIGHT TO BE
WRONG was featured on
PBS affiliates nationwide. The film chronicles an Israeli
and Palestinian friendship that brought their "peace party" from Israel to Kansas City.
Kruvant practiced civil and criminal litigation law for twenty years in New Jersey before creating Good Footage Productions, Inc. a charitable organization, formed to produce documentary films that raise awareness on communities in crisis. Her latest film,
HEART OF STONE playing at
SJFF on Sunday, March 21st, focuses on the crisis in education in Newark, NJ as an example for the entire nation. The film has won a string of awards.
