Mother Stayed There
40 min Israel, 1997
Hebrew w/subtitles
Dalia Mevorach, Director |
The dramatic and fascinating story of two charismatic young
people who form an extraordinary connection between African and Israeli culture. Brought
to Israel as children during Operations Moses and Solomon,
Rachel and Paulus return on a visit to Ethiopia but their joyous reunion is marred by
government roadblocks that threaten to keep the families apart indefinitely. An inspiring
glimpse at the strength and optimism that sustains Ethiopian Jews left behind during the
dramatic Israeli airlifts in the early 90s.
Special guest: Avi Granot, former Israeli
ambassador to Ethiopia will be joining us for a discussion after the screening. Mr. Granot
is currently the Minister of Information at the Israeli Consulate in D.C. |
