Najeeb: A Persian Girl in America Shot in New York and Los Angeles, this film offers a rare glimpse into the inner circles of the tightly knit Persian Jewish community. Come along with Tanaz Eshaghian as she attempts to reconcile her own independence with the expectations of her parents, extended family, and the occasional matchmaker. As they attempt to set her up on arranged dates with Iranian Jewish suitors, lament her liberal American upbringing, and generally agitate about the passing of her youth (she has hit the ripe old age of twenty-five), Tanaz explores whether women of her generation can possibly be 'Najeeb'-- the demure, reserved feminine ideal deemed worthy of marriage. Director Tanaz Eshaghian will be present for post-film discussion. Screening with Late Marriage.
