Gripsholm

wpe16.gif (4276464 bytes)

In the summer of 1932, a Jewish writer and his girlfriend leave the urban pleasures of Berlin for an idyllic vacation at Castle Gripsholm in Sweden. Two friends--passionate flier Karlchen and seductive cabaret singer Billie - soon join them, and the bohemian scene of Berlin is recreated on a small scale.  Based on a semi-autobiographical novel by Kurt Tucholsky, who once wrote:  “You often think that love is stronger than time, but time is always stronger than love.”  It is the summer of 1932, and soon nothing will ever be the same again in Europe.  Screening with The Sephardic Jews of the Pike Place Market.
