Desperado Square

On the eve of the commemoration of his father's death, Nisim has a dream in which his father tells him to break a 25-year-old vow and reopen the neighborhood's cinema. His determination to follow through on this dream brings the joy of movies back to the neighborhood, uncovers family secrets, heals old wounds, and, just maybe, reunites true love. A loving portrait of a Sephardic community in Tel Aviv that one suspects exists as much in myth as in memory, Desperado Square marks the arrival of a sparkling new voice in Israeli cinema.  Winner of five Israeli Academy Awards.
